ODI's and Test cricket crisis?

How to make test matches and ODI cricket fun and beneficial for all stakeholders and fans? Well, that's the most burning question right now. ICC are trying everything to make longer formats of the game attractive for the audience. They have started "Test Championship" which does sound grand but lacks cutting edge. They had also proposed that the World Cup should be held every 3 years instead of 4. Well, that was rejected too.

Let me ask all of you something. Why is that every person, every TV company, every sponsor wants the Ashes to happen sooner or India vs Pakistan match to happen all the time. It is because all these people are somehow emotionally connected towards it. They watch it whether it is test cricket or ODI's or T20's, because they want to. Whatever ICC does or whatever reforms they bring in,  it's not going to work because they are not connected to it emotionally.

Here is an idea for ICC to generate some revenue if that they want. Try to Organize cricket matches in those places where cricket is not played much but where it's people are passionate about it.
Like in the US where many people of subcontinent live, try to organize bilateral series involving teams from Asia. Benefits of that is immense. And the biggest of all is that the people of US will see a sport apart from Soccer, Basketball, and Baseball (no offence). But in these kind of places they shouldn't do T20's . They should try to do ODI's or test matches. And I'm pretty sure it's going to be sold out.

Well I'm not some cricket expert or ICC CEO. But one thing I know for sure is that if you run after money you will end up with nothing. But if you run after making people happy you will always get rewarded.

  1. Well written, to the point. But I would love to see some stats along or graphs and charts even. Keep it up.
