Indian Cricket Future Plans

So, India's World Cup campaign ended in a semi-final for the 2nd time in a row. Last time they were beaten by eventual Champions Australia and this time by New Zealand. India has not won any knockout game at an ICC event since their 2011 World Cup win. This shows that India lacks a proven match-winner at crunch pressure games ( knockouts ). They used to have knockout specialist many years ago in the form of Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, and Suresh Raina. India should address this issue ASAP.

But still, India played beautifully throughout the tournament and it was a case of one bad day in the office. In my opinion, the top 2 teams of the league stage should get some advantage over 3rd and 4th placed teams as in IPL the top 2 teams get an extra chance to qualify for the finals. ICC should consider it.

Now, coming onto India's team, they need to address a lot of issues before the 2023 World Cup. They should start including a lot of new players who are performing well for so many years. Like Sanju Samson, Mayank Agrawal , Shreyas Iyer. And also to some new and exciting young players like Shubhman Gill, Ishan Kishan and Nitish Rana. India has a host of talent but they should use them properly with giving them time, otherwise, they could turn out like Ambati Rayudu or Manoj Tiwary who were one's regarded as the next big thing in Indian cricket.

The no.4 slot who's debate is still going on has to stop ASAP. They should play a specialist batsmen at that position, not someone like Vijay Shankar. Iyer, Samson are my top picks for that position. They have the temperament and technique to accelerate and deaccelerate at any time according to the situation. Rishabh Pant should be used at No.6 position, as it is the most suitable for him. He can kill off any game on his own and he also has finisher type temperament.

As far as bowling is concerned, India should start including Navdeep Saini in the team, because he looks like a star in the making. Otherwise, the bowling pool looks well settled and tested.
With the West-Indies tour coming up I think it's the perfect time to give opportunities to several young players.
Below is my 18 player squad for the tour->

Rohit Sharma(C)
Mayank Agrawal
Shreyas Iyer
KL Rahul/Shubhman Gill
Vijay Shankar/ Ajinkya Rahane
